Dainty Doll

Dainty Doll lipstick - £1.99(here)      //      Dainty Doll Mascara&Eyeliner duo -£1.99(here)
Dainty Doll by Nicola Roberts, wasn't a brand I was overly interested in when it first launched. However, over the past few weeks I'd noticed they'd suddenly become really popular, popping up all over different blogs. That is because Fragrance Direct have the best ever offer on them. I managed to pick up the lipstick for a mere £1.99 and the mascara/eyeliner duo for £1.99 as well. Bargain! This was the first time I placed an order with fragrance direct, I opted for the saver delivery and it came in the 5 working days.

Dainty Doll lipstick in 001 Couture
001 Couture is a brown based, deep red, which would have been perfect to wear throughout winter. The swatches on the website aren't great so this is a deeper colour than I assumed. It also is coated in like a film of sparkle, but you have to look closely to see it and when applied to the lip, it applies more of a shine. This isn't the most long lasting lipstick, lasting about 2 hours, before a re application is needed and since it's quite a deep, dark colour, it's noticeable when it fades.

Dainty Doll Eyeliner&Mascara duo in 002 Shape Up Suzie
The tip of the eyeliner is very thin, so a lot of precision and a steady hand is needed to ensure that it doesn't look wonky or like a child has done your make up. However, it is a pigmented product and you have a while to work with the liner and build it until it's a thicker line. The mascara is nice, not the best I've ever tried, but it doesn't leave a panda eye effect and the product does make your lashes appear longer and thicker. For the price, I picked it up I really have no complaints and the fact it's a duo makes it handy for travelling. However, I don't think I would have picked up this product full price (around the £14 mark).

Eyeshadow base - £1.99
Just a normal eyeshadow really. It didn't act as a "base" in the sense it didn't make my eye shadow last any longer, it just was a fairly pigmented colour. A positive is, it's very coral, which makes it pretty for Spring, but I can't see myself wearing it during winter.

Overall, I like these products, but if I had paid the R.R.P, I would have been extremely disappointed. They're alright, nothing special, but by no means, bad.

Have you ever bought from Fragrance Direct or Dainty Doll?

E x

  25. I often find with celebrity brands they can be a bit disappointing and overpriced - still you got an amazing deal, and the colour of the lippie is gorgeous, it will be perfect in the autumn (only 6 months to wait ;) )
